Electrically insulating and conductive compounds

Bekina® Compounds, together with its customers active in the energy industry, plays a crucial role in the electrification of our society. The modernisation of the aging electrical infrastructure, along with the accelerated transition to renewable energy, is also driving high demand for electrically insulating and conductive rubber compounds. Bekina Compounds produces insulating, semi-conductive, and conductive rubber compounds for low-, medium-, and high-voltage applications. These compounds typically require very high purity and must comply with strict Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) guidelines.

Our electrically insulating and conductive compounds are made from polymers such as: EPR (EPDM), Silicone (VMQ), XLPE, EVA, NBR, ECO,...

EPR (EPDM)

Ethylene Propylene Rubber (Ethylene Propylene Diene Monomer)

  • Insulating properties & application: Superior electrical insulation, moisture resistant; used in cable insulation and connectors for medium/high voltage
  • Conductive properties & application: (Semi-)conductive with carbon black, antistatic; used for cable insulation and electrical field distribution

VMQ

Silicone Rubber

  • Insulating properties & application: High dielectric strength; used for insulators and cable accessories
  • Conductive properties & application: Conductive due to metal particles or carbon black; used in sensors and connectors

XLPE

Cross-Linked Polyethylene

  • Insulating properties & application: Excellent insulation, used for cable insulation
  • Conductive properties & application: Not commonly used as a conductive material

EVA

Ethylene Vinyl Acetate

  • Insulating properties & application: Halogen-free; used for cable sheaths and insulation
  • Conductive properties & application: Conductive with carbon black; for antistatic applications

NBR

Nitrile Butadiene Rubber

  • Insulating properties & application: Oil resistant; insulation in specific applications
  • Conductive properties & application: Conductive with carbon black; used in antistatic hoses

ECO

Epichloorhydrin Elastomer

  • Insulating properties & application: Insulating possible but limited
  • Conductive properties & application: Naturally conductive, often reinforced with carbon black
